Thailand: check before you transfer money
By Honne Trust & Safety · reviewed by Honne Thailand Editorial Reviewer · 2026-06-22
In Thailand, a romance scam often becomes a money story: an urgent transfer, a travel problem, a family emergency, or a private investment that only your match can explain.
The safest rule is simple: do not transfer money to keep a new relationship alive. A genuine match will not make care, attraction, or respect depend on payment.
Bangkok is Honne's first Thailand launch cell because scam pressure is easier to fight when verified members, LINE updates, and community cohorts stay focused.
For LGBTQ and Circles cohorts, safety also means resisting outing threats, sextortion, and private-image pressure. Keep screenshots and report threats quickly.
Before any transfer, stop, verify identity through the product, ask a trusted person outside the conversation, and contact local fraud support if money has already moved.
