Most fake profiles fail the same handful of tests. Run these before you get attached.
1) Reverse-image the photos. Scammers reuse stolen pictures — a reverse image search often surfaces the real owner or a stock library.
2) Ask for a live, unscripted video call. A refusal, or a call that's always 'broken', is the single strongest red flag.
3) Watch the pace. Real people build trust slowly; scammers rush to intense affection ('love bombing') to lower your guard.
4) Check for money pressure — ever. No genuine match needs a transfer, gift cards, or crypto. That request, in any form, ends the conversation.
5) Look for off-platform moves. Being pushed to a side app immediately is how scammers escape moderation. On Honne, identity is verified before contact, which removes most of this risk up front.
